Biography

Randy George is one of the few theremin virtuosi who perform primarily classical music.

He earned his Bachelor of Music (2001) from the University of North Texas College of Music, where he studied bassoon under Kathleen Reynolds. As a professional bassoonist, he performed with several north Texas ensembles.

After pursuing an alternative career as a film music editor in Los Angeles, in 2006 he discovered his true musical voice in the theremin, a voice through which he could more closely approach his musical ideals.

Randy's playing method continues to evolve, pushing the technical boundaries of the instrument in order to expand the repertoire of playable compositions available to it. In this way, he is preserving and augmenting the original vision of its inventor, Lev Sergeyevich Termen, who saw classical performance as the instrument's true calling.

Through his music video productions on the internet -- collectively viewed over 12 million times -- Randy George has made a significant contribution to the accelerating world-wide awareness of the theremin. Randy has performed at international theremin festivals including Ether Music Festival in Asheville, North Carolina and Lippstadt Without Touch Theremin Festival in Lippstadt, Germany.
